The ringtones on this page are remixes of audio files from one or more binary black hole signals. Signals in ground-based detectors are literally in the audio band, but this is not so for some of the more interesting signals used in these ringtones. For instance, the signals produced by solar-sized black holes falling into supermassive black holes are extremely rich in structure. In this case the signals were simply re-scaled into the audio band. Click on "more info" for information on how they were produced.
